PLAYERS/PARENTS NIGHT
- On Thursday, February 25th, 2010, at 7:00pm there will be a mandatory meeting for all first time players and parent(s). This meeting will be held at the High School Cafeteria Commons, and will include an overview of the league, schedules, rules, and administrative items.
MASS BAY YOUTH LACROSSE LEAGUE PHILOSOPHY AND RULES -
Acton Boxboro participates in the Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League which is a development league intended to teach the sport of Lacrosse and provide a positive experience for each player. Again the league is stressing that there will be no take out checks at any level. A take out check is a hit with or without possession that has the intent of injuring or putting the opponent on the ground. We will reinforce this in practice along with making sure stick checks are under control (no wild stick checks). There is no body checking allowed at the U9 (1st and 2nd grade team) and at the U11 level (3rd and 4th grade team).
Additionally we expect each player to be respectful to officials, coaches, and other players at all times. If a player displays behavior other than that expected, their playing time and or status in the program may be affected.
GOALIES
- We need goalies! If your child has an interest please let us know. Goalies will be required to wear all goalie equipment we supply. If we do not get volunteers all players will be expected to take a turn playing in goal during the course of the season.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -
Also, if you are interested in learning more about the rules, positions, etc there is some great information on lacrosse on the MBYLL website (www.mbyll.org) and other lacrosse websites provided on our 'Links' page
If there is any other information we can provide in the interim please feel free to contact one of us. Acton Boxboro Youth Lacrosse has experienced great growth over the past several years and we look forward to another successful season this spring.
The website is updated with new information often. Please check periodically to make sure you are informed about information pertaining to lacrosse this season.
Each team will have its own website within the overall site for team messages, schedule, etc.
http://www.ablax.org
The schedule for outdoor practices has not been set because we are waiting for confirmation from the folks in town on field availability and times. As soon as we have something to report, we'll be sending an email and posting to the website.
Thank you,
AB Youth Lacrosse Board
